Difference bet SCM 2007 and SCM 7.0

Dear All,

Can somebody tell the difference between SCM 2007 and SCM 7.0 ?

If you look at the help there are two versions, not sure if SAP has got new version.

Also how do you know that they are planning to come out with new version?

SCM 7.0 is the newer version of SCM. It is available from 11.21.2008 onwards. However I do not have the release notes for this version. Lets wait for other responses.

So does that mean that after SCM 5.0 it is SCM 2007 and then SCM 7.0 ?

yes you are right. Here are the availability dates of the versions:

SCM5.0 - 12.09.2005 ONWARDS

SCM2007- 08.31.2007

SCM7.0 - 11.21.2008

I checked in help.sap and service.sap but I could not find any related notes for SCM7.0. Officially it is called as SCM 2007 but I heard some saying it as SCM5.1 also

-> SCM 7.0 is released as rump up since Nov./2008 , the next SCM release after SCM 5.1.

SCM4.1 available since June 21st 2004

SCM5.0 available since December 5th 2005

SCM5.1 available since August 31st 2007

SCM7.0 available since November 21st 2008

Even though SCM5.1 is referred to as "SCM2007" when you install the software you will find that the software component for SCM is referred to as SCM5.1.

I have no idea of the differences of SCM7.0 and SCM5.1 and will never really look into it. We are on SCM5.1 and with mainstream maintenence ending in march 2013 we will upgrade to the highest release in 2012 and it sure won't be SCM7.0!
