MAXDB: Installation exited abnormally

Hi,

I cannot install Maxdb on any Windows XP.

I always get this messages during installation:

"Installation exited abnormally at <datetime>" folowed by:

"Fatal Error".

When I see install log, it includes this:

...

SYS: "C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1\bin\dbmsrvctl.exe" start

SYS: "C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe" -R "C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1" inst_reg -k \"C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1\": A

SYS: "C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe" -R "C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1" inst_reg -k \"C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1\":

SYS: "C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe" -R "C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1" inst_reg -k \"C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1\": This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

SYS: "C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe" -R "C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1" inst_reg -k \"C:\Program Files\sdb\MAXDB1\": Please contact the application's support team for more information.

...

This is the same scenario at all installations. I tried it on (usually Windows XP professional) some physical workstations, on virtual machines. I also tried the fresh installation of OS.

Version of MAXDB is 7.6.00.37 but I tested also the last version.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mira.

Hi Mira,

in general you should use the most current version of MaxDB you can get.

Although this does not seem to help you with this issue, you will avoid hitting a lot of other already fixed bugs by using the current version.

Please provide some more information on the platform you're using.

What language are you using with Windows XP? With XP Edition do you use? On which hardware platform?

regards,

Lars

Thanks for reply.

I tried the current version of MAXDB, but it didn't help.

Most of hosts where I tested the installation is Windows XP Professional - Czech version.

HW: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz, 2 GB RAM.

It is curious, because I didn't find this problem at Internet, but I cannot install MaxDB on any computer at our network. Ofcourse, I tried the installation on the clean Windows (after installation of OS).

Hi Jaromir,

as I've no experience with czech windows versions this is only a shot into the blue, but please try to install MaxDB on a english version of windows.

SAP does not support other windows language versions than english and japanese.

So maybe this error is something we never came across just because of this restriction.

regards,

Lars
