Dear Friends

For a particular material type can i keep both the external number range and internal number range option active.....so that I can create the material with external numbrr range....as well as by a systems generated number in case no external number is given...while creating a material.???

Hi,

Yes, it is feasible through configuration whereby you should define two different number range and make necessary activation if a certain number range is for external assignment.

Hi Friends

I am a bit confused. Is it possible to maintain both external and internal number ranges for a material type with out using user exit?

yes, you can assign one internal and one external number range to one group without any need of an user exit.

For more information about the number range assignement/ Material Master

you check in the page 22 of the document :

http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/LOMDMM/LOMDMM.pdf :

Your system administrator defines the required type of number assignment in Customizing for the

Material Master in Define Number Ranges [Ext.]. After defining a number range, he or she can

flag it, if external number assignment is required, as an external number range. Your system

administrator then assigns it to one or more material types. As a result, when creating a material

master record, the type of number assignment allowed depends on the material type chosen. *In*

the standard R/3 System, one external number range and one internal number range can be

defined for each material type or group of material types.

Hi,

Yes you can,

You have just to define two different intervals without overlaps

in one interval you set the indicator extranl in Tcode MMNR

You have to choose either internal or External number Range for your material type..

You can not use Both at the same time..
