how to troubleshoot slow WebI report rendering

Hello, I am wondering if any way to see lower-level detail about what is taking so long to process specific (admittedly complex) WebI document. For example, we know that query runs fast and only few thousand rows returned, but initial view takes several minutes to render. Not sure if this is due to many variables being calculated, multiple sections on multiple report tabs, rich crosstab structures, etc. So just looking for some way to isolate what exactly is taking up most processing time, so we can focus our efficiency efforts there. Thanks!

Have a look at the WebI Trips and Tricks blog. The blog has great break down on design best practices, tips, tricks, performance and sizing tuning related issues.

Hi James ,

taking time for thousand rows !! we should suspect Network or iterative calculations (variables) , formatting features (multiple sections) .

Being said , Sections always a time consuming feature . This will generate tables, even format tables to appear in new pages .

this entire process will obviously affects time .

you can further analyse this in web mode using F12 developer tools ->Network tab .

Thank you
