Pass parameter values between SAC and HANA view as a range slider?

Hi,

I have connected my HANA calculation view with an input parameter to SAC by means of a Live Connection. I am looking for a way to set up a range slider for this parameter in my story, i.e., a Calculation Input Control with static list option and a range defined by the set {min, max, increment} just like is possible in R visualizations, for example. The slider value should then be sent to my HANA calculation view in real time to perform calcualtions there.

Is something like this possible?

Thx,
Marcus

hi,

your hana view's parameters can work as prompts in the story if they are enabled - they'll be inherited and surfaced as 'model variables' . these can have default values etc.

As you know these will be called 'on open' of the SAC story file . you could then configure the story to auto-refresh every 30 seconds or more.

There's another model setting which might be useful here (or not) - that the 'Optimized Story Building Performance' setting in the Model Preferences.

This means that the automatic refresh on each design change made to a chart will be paused until confirmed. in the story itself, you can either have "global" (story filters in the toolbar) or "page level" filters as input controls. For sure you can create a range slider with either of these.

You may want to also check out the "Advanced Filter" function for setting advanced conditions. Note that Story filters can be converted to Page filters and vice-versa.

Thanks for your reply, Henry. If I understand you correctly input prompts inherited from a HANA view's parameters currently cannot be used as range slider (or any other) objects right inside the story canvas. I.e., they can only be changed via the menu bar: "{ }". Please correct me, if I am wrong. 😉

Are there changes planned regarding this in upcoming releases of SAC?

Thanks, regards,
Marcus

I need to create a story filter for a dimension with more than 4000 values; they are more than 200k values.

Will I able to filter each value If I use parameters/Variable settings in Hana Calc view?

I run them in input control in SAC and I didn't get back all values visible in hana calc view. so I'm wordering which is the best way to use my story filter because I can read only some customers not all included in hana calc view.

thanks and Regards

Michele
