Hi Harsh,

Use t code CN72. Enter relevant data under Project version specification.

Save your project version

You can also use reports like S_ALR_87013538 & S_ALR_87013539 for Proejct version comparison.

Hi Harsh,

You have to create version profile (t_code: OPTS) in order to create project versions

In the version profile, you can enter as many user and/or system statuses as you want for creating a project version.

Use Transaction OPTS.

There you create a new verions profile of your choice.

Use the relevant objects and define the information and description.

You can make use of either user statuses or system statuses.

Hope this helps.

Please get back in case u require additional info.

I will try to simplify with a realistic example.

At the preparation phase of the project, we have certain planned data with us.

During the later phases there would be several factors detrimental to the project progress.

And as a project manager you would be interested in the profile of the expenditure on the project.

So that you can manage the delivery within stipulated resources.

Making it further simple:

if $1200 was planned overall in the beginning on March 08.

Planned spend distributed as $100 per month.

Now due to some detrimental factors you spend $5500 at the end of first 3 months (Jun 08).

Then you need to have a "snapshot" (as Pragna had explained earlier) of "what went wrong".

This will determine your course of action moving ahead "whats to be done to make right".

At the end of the fiscal year you (as a manager are expected to) should be able to meet the dead lines within the budgeted amount.

I hope this information was helpful.

Hi Harsh,

Project versions are a "snapshot" of a project at a certain point in time. Later you can compare as many project versions with each other as you want.

Project versions are:

Time-Dependent

At a particular point in time, you create a project version manually. You can do this in the WBS, network, or information system.

Status-Dependent

The system automatically creates a project version when there is a system and/or user status change in the selected objects. You define the user/system statuses which trigger creation of project versions in Project System customizing.
