Cross Docking without WM

Dear all,

I would like to know if there is a cross docking functionality without the usage of WM-EWM. The system is S/4 Hana 1709. I have seen a lot of posts and I have the impression that it is possible, but there is no clear answer if it is possible and how.

Best regards

you may have overlooked this response:

"Can you short describe how you imagine cross-docking and what you want to do in reality and inside the system"

Is your WM system from SAP or a third party solution? If third party, is it capable for cross docking?

Hi again Jurgen,

Yes I missed it, sorry for that. The WM system is a non-SAP system. Now I do not know what this WM is capable for. We are going to have a meeting with them and we will figure out. I was thinking to perform a "cross docking" in SAP and feed it to the WMS, because even if the WM is capable for performing cross docking, i imagine it will need all inbound deliveries and all outbound deliveries as well. But from SD side we do not want to feed it up with outbound deliveries that no stock exist (in order to control in SAP stock availability).

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Than you Jurgen for your answer.

LXDCK and LXDCA requires a WM functionality correct?

I would like to know if it possible to implement it without WM. The WM system will be an external system and I am trying to figure out if we can control cross docking in S/4 and provide the WM with that info.

Cross docking is not MM, but under the Logistics Execution menu are a folder for Cross-Docking with the transactions

LXDCK - Cross-Docking-Monitor

LXDCA - Alert-Monitor

/SPE/CDMON - Transport-Cross-Docking-Monitor

I am not yet in S4 and can't tell whether they are still there.

Dear Serhan,

Thank you for your valuable info. However, I see that "You can use transportation cross-docking only if you have activated Service Parts Management". Is it possible to be done without SPM active? As far as I know SPM requires different licensing.

Hi,

Of course it's possible.

In principle, EWM only takes part in cross docking execution, not planning. Planning part is in ECC, or you can call MM module.

The only option in EWM is the opportunistic cross docking, this option relates to internal movements of products, not related to supply chain.

Please search for transportation cross docking : https://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_07/helpdata/en/b0/7bb6535fe6b74ce10000000a174cb4/frameset.htm
