BOXI service monitoring

All,

I just wanted to get an idea from the experts here - which tool/application, in your experience, has done a good job in monitoring of Windows-based system services (BO XI R2 services to be specific)? I am looking for some open-source (or freeware) tool that can help me with monitoring for the status of all BO services, including Tomcat. Any alerting capabilities when services go down or are high on CPU/RAM utilization would be added bonus, but if not, basic service monitor would be okay as well.

Has anyone used any OTS or custom tools for this kind of systems administration on Windows-based BO servers?

Regards,

Sarang

You could try [SpiceWorks|http://www.spiceworks.com/] or something of the sort. SpiceWorks is free but not open-source.

Thanks.

Sarang,

And to give you more choices ... there has been movement recently between BO and Tivoli to develop more proactive monitoring tools, which you can read about here: [http://labs.businessobjects.com/enterprise_monitoring/default.asp])

Thanks,

Topaz can be used to achive this type of monitoring.

I do not believe Topaz is free or open-source, and that is what I was hoping to get as we already have CA monitoring, but that more on an enterprise-level standard monitoring. I am looking to set up something small on my own.

This http://labs.businessobjects.com/enterprise_monitoring/default.asp has all that is available. It's not just for Tivoly....

Besides this - we have no other solution
