    Hi

Production version is the different possible combinations of input material and output material.

    Example:

A output material can be produced from 2 different input material.

    so we call

    Production Version 1

Output material A (BOM version 1)

    Input material B

    Production Version 2

Output material A (BOM version 2)

    Input material C

This will exist in SAP as 2 different versions of BOM.

    Hi,

Suppose you have 2/3 production lines and 2/3 alternative BOMs to produce one FG.

How system will come to know which BOM and Routing to be used. This is done thru Prod.Version.

In production version we maintain the combination of BOM and routing.

Also it can be designed with lot size or validity period.

Go to MM02--->MRP4 / Work scheduling view -

    > Prod.Version.

Enter the validity period and lot size.

After entering the reqd. routing no. and BOM alternative , carry a check.

After getting the Green signals ,Continue.

Thus you have saved the prod. version.

    Mass processing TCode- C223

    Regards,

    Deepak.

    Hi Venkatesh,

Porduct version is different combination of the BOM required to produce the product.

    for Example:

    In subcontracting,

    Vendor1 : needs items (Rawmaterial) X, Y & Z to produce semifinshed product A

Vendor2 : needs items (Rawmaterial) X & Y to produce semifinshed product A .. since availabality of the Item Z is cheper.... and service charge to produce Product A is equal or less than Vendor 1.

In this case if u use product version. When you create the subcotacting PO... for Vendor1, the componet porvided to vendor will show as X ,Y & Z.

subcotacting PO for Vendor 2 : the componet porvided to vendor will show as X &Y

Hope this will clear your doubt.

    Thanks

    Anand
