Cost center assignement

Hi SAP folks,

We have 1 controlling area(CACA) and 2 co codes (CAC1 & CAC2). Now we have created a cost center and has assigned to co code CAC1. Here my question is that we want to assign same cost center to another co code CAC2. While doing this system threws error message "cost center is already exists". How to extend the same cost center to another co code?

Hi,

Yes, u can assign same cost center to another Company code, But u have to maintain small Adjustment,

While creating cost center it ask for from date and to date. While creating in another company code change the date i.e if in 1st company code if u have maintain 01/04/2008 then u should maintain from date as any date after 01/04/2008 in 2nd company code.This is the only option.

This approach is totally incorrect. As mentioned before, cost centre could not be assigned to two company codes.

hello, i have one problem when i make other goods reciept for 261,561, 201 mvmt type i get error like cost element of balance sheet accout cant be posted to cost center

Cost centre masters are created per controlling area. that is why when you are creating it for the second time, it is giving the said error. You can assign only one company code to a cost centre.

But my client wants to extend the same cost center to another co code. Is there any way to achieve this or any work around need to be required?

what you are asking is against the basic functionality. I am afraid it is not possible to assign a cost centre for two company codes.
