Question regarding control over sdb and sqd<sid> users

Former Member

Hi, Experts,

As we all know, the sdb and sqd<sid> users are the software owener users for Content Server and MaxDB. Now our client want to have more control over those users due to security reasons or to answer for audit.

So they hightlight if the sdb and sqd<sid> users' password can change or not. Also, if the passwords are expired, what is the impact on the running Content Server and MaxDB.

I have done some search on the SAP documentation. But the only information I can get is this

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/01/85680d20696b4291808886492b3277/frameset.htm

It is about the modification about the sqd<sid> password.

Then how about sdb password? And the password expiration about those IDs? Is there any offical documentation from SAP that talks about this?

Thanks in advance!!

Best Regards,

Li Bin

Hi Li (again),

the sqd<sid> has been the owner of the database resources up to MaxDB 7.5.

With that version onwards the security setup on os-level was changed and now the owner of the software is the sdb user.

As this users are not used for logging in with password you may change the passwords as you like - even when the database(s) are up and running.

Hi

We are doing the standard system copy procedure of SCM 5.1 with Live Cache 7.7.

We have already created the export dump and under the proces of running system copy (using spainst).

My installation got stuck as below:

sapinst_logs/sapinst_instdir/SCM51/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS-ABAP# .log <

Error in execvpS(/sap_stage/SAP_SCM_2007_liveCache_7.7.02.8/DATA_UNITS/LC_AIX_PP

C64/SDBINST errno: 13, error text: The file access permissions do not allow the

specified action.

Indep_data/sapdb/data-profile u201CRuntime for SAP ASu201D u2013o sdb u2013g sdba u2013bu201D finished with status TST_ERROR

Pelase do the needful.

Hi Chandra,

maybe you want to do the "needful" yourself?

What does the error message tells you?

Did you perform any notes/forum/google research?

Why don't you open a seperate thread for this instead of misusing a already closed one?

As this is about a liveCache problem, you may want to review the system copy guide once more or open a support message.

Lars
