Dimension Property is not being displayed

Former Member

We are running BPC v5.1 on windows 2003 server. In the manage Dimension task of admin tolls I have added dimension and process the dimension with the property's I wanted.

The Process of dimension works fine, The Dimension passed all of the property infomration back to the database.

But once we log out and log back in the BPC admin page in the Dimension managment we do not see any property listed. It's a blank screen. Not even the default property

has anyone ran into this?

Any suggestion would be appriciated.

Sam

Hi Sam

Can you just tell me that if you see those properties as column headers when you click on "Maintain Dimension Headers"

If yes then follow below steps:

1) Log off and log in

2) Then process the new dimension

3) Click on maintain dimension property

see if you can see the properties now

All,

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but we have tried all and still has the problem. To Summerize.

Problem

The Dim property page comes up with BLUE screen in BPC ADMIN page under Dim managment and dose not show any property even though it has property.

Temp Workaround

I have a test Dim which i keep within the app, All I have to do is Process that and rest of my dimension comes back with the property.

I do not know what is causing this or where is this coming from.

Optimize dose not help.

Thanks

What's the client environment where you're running the BPC admin console? (version of Windows & Excel.) Sounds like it it may not be properly installed.

Can you try running the admin console from another PC? Does it give you the same problem there?

After you add the property to the dimension (for example, Account), open the Account dimension member sheet and add a member, and set a value to the property for this member. Then process the dimension.

Then check on the DB in the mbrAccount table to see if the property appears there as a column, and the property value appears in the field for the member you added.

Then if that is OK, add this dimension to a new application and process the application. Give yourself security access to this app, and then log into Excel to see if everything works.

Hello Sam,

If you have created a dimension then select the dimension type from the Dimension Type drop down list, the dimension type controls the behavior of the dimension and the default properties included in the dimension.

When you process a new dimension, the system constructs a map of the dimension in Analysis Services.

This sets up the entire hierarchy, so that the dimension is easy to find upon querying the application. In

addition, processing a new dimension sets up a member table with some default properties. When you

process an existing dimension, the system stores the changes in the database. After making changes to properties use Full Processing so that the system performs a full process of a dimension when a property is added to the dimension, a member is inserted in the middle of the worksheet, and when a change is made to the parent/child relationships (if the dimension has a hierarchy).

Assign and secure the dimension to the respective Application and process it.

Hope this helps you.

Priyanka

Hi Sam,

When new application sets, applications or dimensions are created, it is beenficial to run full optimization which cleans up the data storage and improves the responsiveness of the system. Full Optimization processes the dimensions after clearing the real term as well as the short term data storage and should be run at the down time periods as it takes the system offline.

Hope it helps. Please award points if helpful.

Hi sam,

is the dimension which you have created is there after Re login only the properties are not displayed.

If so i think you have to run " FULL OPTIMISATION " once.

I hope it will help u.
