Subscription Notification alerts

Portal Subscription facility is not working, not getting notification.

Subscription to the folder and to the document has been done. No notification on updates.

Content Admin --> KM Content --> root (folder) --> folder/document.

not getting alerts for regular updates on documnets residing in these folders.

If anyone can help on this, will be appreciated.
