Hello,
i would like to give me your professional opinion on this subject:
we currently have an android native application developed on SMP 2.3 platform (with MBO). This platform is about to go out of support and we are currently facing the issue of a platform upgrade. There are currently two options:
We need to minimize the work of this project, which means all the Native Android UI code must be kept. Offline / Online synchronizations must keep a similar logic as in 2.3 SMP platform.
What is your suggestions?
My thanks in advance for your time.
Hello Thrasivoulos Tsiokos,
Please be noted that SMP 3.0 which is based on open standard also supports propriety MBO application, since there is a component called 'MBO Runtime' being shipped along with same SMP30 runtime package.
To run MBO based apps (were developed on SMP 2.3), you can go with SMP30 runtime (also, as part of SMP30 mobile sdk, you need to install SMP Mobile SDK MBO Toolkit.)
To upgrade MBO based app to OData based app, you need to redesign whole app (MBO to OData model and so on)
Please check :

HANA Cloud Platform Mobile services doesnt support any MBO based application, you have to go with OData based app development approach.
