Hi,

My DEV server is down. I stopped it on sunday morning and copied the datafiles to another server to make a system copy.

Now the servers is not coming up

It is giving the following error:-

ORA-27123: unable to attach to shared memory segment IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 13: Permission denied

I rebooted the server. I changed the permissions of oracle and oracleO files under oracle_home/bin as per note 583861.

I went through note 546006 too and changed the permissions of control files to 777.

I have AIX 5.3 as OS and Oracle 9.2.0.6 as Oracle DB

Please help me as lot of users are affected and golive of New Modules is hampered

Regards,

Tajinder

Are the same error after you reboot the server? Are you check the oracle alter log?

Hello Tajinder,

i think there were some shared memory segments left.

Maybe the instance was crashed and does not clean up the segments.

The next time you can check this with the following command:

>shell> ipcs -a

http://publib16.boulder.ibm.com/doc_link/EN_US/a_doc_lib/cmds/aixcmds3/ipcs.htm

If you see some shared memory segements owned by the user (normally you will see size of the SGA), you can remove the segments with

>shell> ipcrm -m <NUMBER>

>shell> ipcrm -s <NUMBER>

http://publib16.boulder.ibm.com/doc_link/EN_US/a_doc_lib/cmds/aixcmds3/ipcrm.htm

If you reboot your server all SHM segments are cleared.
