SED, MAT TYPE & NO RANGE

Dear Guru's,

Good morning,

In my client, these are the below mentioned cases,

SED

1. We have 10 boxes of chemical 'A' & all were having different expiry date

& now we need to order another 5 boxes of the same chemical 'A' & it will have

different expiry date. How can we maintain different SED for the same material.

2. Can we maintain the same material in two different mat types, In my client case same material they want to maintain in both mat types.

Ex : If the purchase qty of steel is 20 tonnes, they will treat it as Capital & if

it is 1 tonne/few kgs, they will treat it as consumables.

3. Can we maintain the internal No range for material type or Material group ?

like, if i want to maintain no range for stores mechanical(mat grp), can i maintain ?

B/regds,

CB

    Hi,

    1. To get the different SED for the same material. You need to activate the Batch management concept for your materials. Create the Batch Characterisitcs as Date & include in your Batch class.

& when the batch is created for that material "A" you can include the releated SED for that material along with the particular Batch created for that material.

    2. It is not possible to create the Same material for Different material type in SAP, System will not accept the same material once created with sepific Material type.

    3. Number range will be created with respect to Material type & not possible at the Mateiral Group level.

Check with T code MMNR for no range creation.

    Hi,

You might have Batch management active for this Material.Than for every Batch the SLED will be different that you can maintain.

For one material you canot maintain two Material types. You can make a new material type that can have your required attributes.

    Dear Channabasappa,

for No.1: You can use batch numbers.

For No.2: According to my under standing it is not possible. but if you wnat you can maintain by giving some other name.

For No.3: yes you can give internal number range to material type by MMNR

    Regards,

    Abhee.
