Dear Gurus,

WHAT IS THE USE OF FUNCTION MODULES IS IT USEFUL FOR FUNCTIONAL CONSULTANT.

I came across this functional modules often how it helps us in functionality, also iam aware that it is related to technical ABAP , but do functional consultants need to know about this were it help them.

Dear gurus,

Thanks for your input, one more small query is that any way can we find the functional module inside the sap screen like for ex: if iam working in output for enhancement function in sap screen itself this is the functional module involved in this so that we can assist the ABAP people is there any way like this.

The link is helpful but i do no how far we can remember these modules so if we work on any area if there is any way we can find from sap screen itself i think it will be easy.

Hi Arun,

Function modules are used for a particular functionality.I that particular functionality is required then we will call the required function module in the program that is required.

You are right that it is related to technical ABAP.But if the fuctional consutants know the particular functional module then they can be helpful for the ABAPers.

So it will be better to have some knowledge about them.

For example in the printing of the output there is some issue with font etc.If you go for a new ABAPer hemay not know to use which one to be used if you know abt that you can ask him to use the particular FM in the code.

Dear Arun,

As you already mentioned that FUNCTIONAL MODULES are related to the ABAP, yes these are related to technical area.

The FUNCTIONAL MODULES are placed in the program to perform the perticular function.

It may not mandatroy as a functional consultant you should know ,but if you know about Functional modules you can assist ABAPer in better way when the requirement comes.
