Settings for Reservation

Hello Sap Gurus,

i was wondering to find out if there is any setting available while making the reservations, which will confine the material movement only to the particular reservation, and every other Goods Issue is restricted.

Detail requirement

i have a Material "M" , stock qnty 100 units,

i will create a reservation for this material for a cost center X, (201 M/T) for 80 units,

our requirement is that this 80 units of material should only be issued to my cost center X, as it is having a reservation created for 80 units,

any other goods issues for this material (like goods issue for Production order (261), GI for Project (221)GI for sales order (231) or other Cost centers y, z etc.. ) must be restricted to only the balence 20 units

right now iam finding even though the material is reserved for a particular Movement Type, it does not control the Material movement to other Movement type.

i tried unticking the Movements allowed Indicator but could not restrict the material movenment.

Thanks and regards

Shanti.

Hi Shanti,

As per my best knowledge you cannot solve this in SAP...even though your requirement may be very natural from business point of view.

Reservation is just one kind of requirement amongst many in the eyes of MRP (of course MRP hasn't got eyes), and as per my best knowledge you cannot prioritize the requirements, including reservations.

I've found a thread in connection with this where someone suggested a "solution" - whether it is correct or not you can decide:

Shanti,

Creation of a reservation does not preclude any movement type. A reservation is only a requirement. It will affect MRP calculations and it will affect ATP transactions, but it does not affect the ability to perform a Goods Issue.

You must do something to the stock itself if you want to protect it from some type of movement. For instance, you could change the material's category to 'blocked stock', and then most GI transactions will not be applicable. Naturally, when it comes time to perform the GI for YOUR reservation, you must then change the category back to 'unrestricted'.

Hi Shanti,

As per my understanding you want the material to be retained in the storage locaton once it is reserved for the particular order and should not be issued to the other orders why dont you do one thing for the storage location which you are using exclude it in MRP4 so with that you have material for your production order and in stock it will be there but the issue of the products cannot be done for the other orders..

Try this hope it helps u out...
