Enterprise Compensation Management Questions

We currently using ECC50 and run Managers Desktop. We're looking at doing comp. management but I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to track down organized/coherent information on SAP offerings from a big picture perspective. I have found quite a bit but nothing that paints a clear overview. In particular...

Technology & Pre-reqisites:

- Applications - Java WD or BSP + Java WD XSS Overviews?

- Reporting - I understand there is a cube. Correct?

- Business Packages - I'm seeing CM content in MSS and a 60.2 Comp Planning Specialist business package. Is this correct?

- Enablement & Configuration - What must be turned on on the back end and we configure in IMG?

- Infotypes: Do the newer business packages for Compensation in MSS use only the new u201CEnterprise Compensationu201D infotypes (758, 759, 760) or are the u201Cold compensationu201D infotypes (380, 382) still able to be used in the newer MSS business packages for comp?

- ECC5 vs. ECC6 - We're on ECC5. What are the major differences here in terms of what we can run and the technology, components, packages, infotypes required for ECC5 vs. ECC6?

As you can tell I'm just trying to get the big picture. Your insights are very much appreciated.
