Hi,
The difference is basically managing stock transfers - either through only MM module....or using both MM & SD modules.
1) Stock transport Order without Delivery:
Movement type 351 is a Goods Issue from the sending plant & the material will be received through 101 in the receiving plant.
Order type = UB and Item category = U.
One-step procedure is not supported.
2) Stock Transport Order with Delivery & Billing:
Movement type 643 (GI for 2-step)/ 645 (GI for 1-step) and the receiving is doing vide Mvt type 101 (GR)
Order type: NB and Item category = Blank (for cross company code)
One step procedure is supported (as stated above)
Delivery type in SD = NLCC
This is typically used while SD functionality of Delivery (and perhaps transportation) is to be used.
These Movement types are typically used for cross company code stock transfers where the Sending Company code will bill the Receiving Company code.
Hope this answers your question.
Regards,
Rajesh

Hi Raj,
Why don't you go trough SAP online help material?
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/4d/2b90dc43ad11d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
If you check the link provided by me you can see that STO-related delivery is possible both for plants belonging one and plants belonging two different company codes.
Delivery document helps to "control" the process (such as the STO itself - in case of intra-company process it would be also possible to post the goods movement in one- or two step w/o STO, but STO helps to have stronger control over the process > please check advantages in SAP online help).
If you send the goods to a plant that belongs to another company, billing is necessary since companies are separate legal entities - so, you can use this STO with delivery & billing only in cross-company (inter-company) process.

Csaba

raj,
351 will be used if both the receiving and issuing plant are in the same company code.
where as billing and 643 movement type will be used if the issuing plant and receiving plants are in different company codes.
Thanks and regards
