Upgrade CRM 5.0 - to CRM 2007.. ISA - scenario

Hi Experts,

at the moment we are working with CRM 5.0 and the ISA Webshop 5.0 and 4.0 (Yes, we use the 4.0 Webshop with a 5.0 CRM Backend.. ). Now the big question - we are planning a upgrade to 2007 CRM Release and it would be great, if we could do the upgrade in 2 parts -

1 - Upgrade the Backend System and working with CRM 2007 with a ISA 4.0 and 5.0 Webshop frontend...

2 - Upgrade the ISA 4.0 and 5.0 to CRM 2007 Webshop..

Do you've any experiences with this scenario and could you give me a feedback if this scenario is possible? The background of this question is, that we've done a lot of enhancements in the ISA 4.0 and 5.0 Shop - and at the moment the customers are satisfied with the ISA - Shops - but we need the new Webgui in CRM 2007 for working with the internal staff...

regards

marc

What ISA scenarios you are using and can you please explain the IPC setup. Please tell me you are not using IPC. Otherwise you got to explain what did you possibly do with IPC component in the ISA 4.0 application configuration.

Other than IPC, there hasn't been much of a technical / architectural change in ISA in the context of a web container.

Since you have got the Webshop 4.0 work with CRM 5.0 and hence upgrade from CRM 5.0 to CRM 2007 is a technical upgrade (excluding the PCUI investments of course, I saw your other piece of question another forum ), your part (1) is technically feasible.

The development and deployment differs big time between ISA 4.0 and the newer versions - CRM 5.0 (er.. I meant ISA 5.0), 2007 or 7.0. Migrating the enhancements from ISA 4.0 to upper versions is fairly well documented if you get the NWDI and the NWDS part going correct. Other than the NWDI, the enhancement techniques of 5.0 are still valid in 2007. So, you are fairly covered as far as the custom development goes. This covers your second part of the upgrade.

See the upgrade guide for any specific issues. I haven't seen anything so far.
