Express doc"Update was terminated" received from author(Quotation creation)

Dear all experts,

I have created a Quotation (VA21) and saving it. The document number is created immediately.

Then, it shows a message 'Express document "Update was terminated" received from author...'

While I try to display the document number, it states that the document is deleted or been archived.

It happened continously for the subsequent document and the numbering is still runnning as usual.

In fact, it was happen few months ago. We ended up not creating any document for that day and it recover back as normal in the second day.

May I know what is the cause of it and how should I do with it?

Hi

One of the reason could be no range overlapping or wrong assignment of no ranges

Check the no range interval in VN01 and whether the same is proper in VOV8 for order typt QT

For e.g The interval you are giving for order type OR should be different from order typt QT

This problem will basically come when system is not able to find a suitable no range for that doc and hence it terminates after saving and the saved no will disappear

Mostly it will get settled if the no range assignment is proper

If still not settled then you have to check it with ABAPer

Thanks for your idea, it did give me a good starter to kickstart the inverstigation.

I have done the checking with my project team and we found no overlapping number range as we are using very simple and few number range.

However, I will like to share an error message I found in the Inbox of the user who receive the message.

[Error Info: 00 671: ABAP/4 processor: CONVT_NO_NUMBER]

I'm not sure is it related to your suggestion or not.

Anyhow, thank you very much. Now, I'm going to try on others suggestions.

Dear Benn,

I used to get the same problem in my project for almost two months. But i used to get it while either doing PGI (or) Billing. Later we found out that we have controlling module. For controlling module No. ranges were not maintained. After maintaining the no. ranges we never got the message again. Hope this information would help you in anyway.

You are very kind. I understand what you mean in that case.

Definitely, we will need control document, if you have CO, during posting of PGI and billing.

However, in creating quotation which does not require any posting at all. That's why it's troubling me.

However, you suggestion has given me an idea to check with my CO consultant about their number range setting. As I afraid the program problem may detect overlapping no. range with other module.
