HANA Level Hierarchy with SAP Analytics Cloud

Hi,

I'm on HANA Express revision 2.00.023 and on HANA Studio 2.3.37.

I've created a Calculation View and within that a level hierarchy for time:

I'm using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) using a Live Connection to HANA.

When trying to add the hierarchy field in a chart, I get the error message below:

I have found OSS note 2527997 which talks about the HANA revision being compatible with the HANA Studio version.

More specifically it mentions that the revision and version need to match:

OSS note 2375176 mentions that revision and HANA version need to be the same, or the HANA Version needs to be above.

I'm wondering if anyone has faced this issue, and if I truly need to downgrade my HANA Studio to be an exact match of what the minimum version requirements are, in order for this functionality to work.

Hi Marcelo,

The KBA 2527997 indicates this behaviour and the solution based in different tests. Product support create KBAs after testing a behaviour and solution.

If you use a newer version of HANA studio, it will use features that your HANA platform doesn't understand.

You can test creating a new calculation view using your web IDE tools:

https://<YOUR_HANA_SERVER>:<HANA_PORT>/sap/hana/ide/

That will create a calculation view using the features available in your HANA platform version.

Hi Julian,

Your recommendation worked. I recreated the hierarchy in the WEB IDE and now the hierarchy works in SAC.

I have a follow up question though:

Is there any way I can edit the descriptions of the levels that are displayed in SAC, and not just Level 1 - 5?

Hi Marcelo,

I discussed with Product managers and they know this is a limitation for now.

I would recommend you to create an enhancement for it in the Influence portal:

https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/884

Other customers can vote for this feature and you will be updated when the enhancement is going to be implemented.
