Hi Sunil,

here is brief about REACH.

REACH is the new regulation on Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals and is the next generation of legislation enacted by European Union (EU). It entered into force on 1st June 2007. It streamlines and improves the former legislative framework on chemicals of the EU.

The primary goals of REACH are to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, the promotion of alternative test methods, the free circulation of substances on the internal market and enhancing competitiveness and innovation.

REACH makes the chemical industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to their users.Every chemical substance manufactured or imported into the EU will have to be registered with a central agency (European Chemicals Agency). An extensive data package on the toxicology of the substance and in most cases a risk assessment for all known applications will have to be provided. This data will be evaluated and substances presenting a high risk to health or to the environment may be subject to restrictions or even banned

On June 1, 2007, the European Communityu2019s REACH legislation came into force. Under these regulations, around 30,000 chemical substances are to be systematically registered and verified.

This legislation affects all who Manufacture, Import, dealer or downstream user. Implementing a comprehensive REACH Compliance involves bringing all business processes into line with the demands of REACH legislation. REACH compliance is affecting businesses in many way. First of all, REACH compliance spans many different functional areas of a company, including purchasing, product evelopment, manufacturing, materials planning, logistics, quality assurance, and finance and sales, but the list can vary depending on the type and size of organization.

Hi

REACh Compliance 1.1 requires ECC 6.0 - so it is not possible with SAP R/3 4.6C.

Material Management, Substance use Management, Supply Chain Collaboration are its functionalties.
