BOE XI Crystal Decision Firewall

Hi

Recently I tested my application and moved to other hosting environment in staging environment.

Machine A, acts as application server, hosts my web applications, which in the end will call machine B, installed with BO, and machine B will return the result to machine A.

We encountered that the network traffic between machine A and B is always on random high ports (port 1024 and above) and bi-directional traffic. This cause me a need to open the firewall for port 1024 and above from machine A u2013 B and from machine B u2013 A.

Appreciate if there is any kind soul enlighting me which documentation that mention the above issueany recommendation on how to resolve the random high ports? thanks!

P.S. I have installed BO with default settings and ports.

Cheers,

Arya

Configuring the Crystal Enterprise SDK for Firewalls will answer all your questions. It was written against the Crystal Enterprise architecture, but the XI architecture is identical in this respect.

    Hi Arya,

You can force each server to use specific ports using the -port setting in the command line.

In the BO Enterprise Installation and Configuration guide there is a section on assigning static port values whic might be useful to you.

    Regards

    Alan
