Warning while creating Unit of Measurement

Former Member

Hi All,

I am trying to create a new Unit of Measurement PCS. The system is giving the folloiwing warning:

ISO code PCE is already used for measurement unit ST

Message no. BM060

Diagnosis

You have maintained the same ISO code for two different measurement units with the same dimension.

System Response

You can assign the same ISO code to two different measurement units with the same dimension,

However, this can lead to EDI problems later. EDI uses the ISO codes as a measurement unit key. If the same ISO code is maintained for several measurement units, a different measurement unit can be assigned to the ISO code measurement unit in the target system as in the source system.

In addition, a unique assignment of the ISO code to a measurement unit is a prerequisite for implementing the mobile DSD solution.

Procedure

Try to keep measurement unit <-> ISO code assignments unique.

Should I go ahead & save the new Unit or something needs to be done somewhere?

Pls. advice.

Regards,

Hi

If u r not going to use EDI or Mobile DSD solution then there is no problem u can go ahead.

orelse change the ISO code of your own unit and then save it. If u try to create a unit by copying another unit then ISO code will be defaulted and hence we need to change the ISO code of our unit.

Hi Raja,

Thanks for the reply.

We are not using EDI / Mobile DSD Solution.

Anyways, what ISO Code should I create for the new Unit PC. Do we need to create a new ISO Code; can't we use the defaults.

Hi

Since u r creating a new unit of measurement for your own use other that STD we have create a new iso code pf our own which may not exist in the STD iso code.

But in our case there is no need to worry either create a new iso code or else proceed with the warning message.

Hi

ISO codes

maintain new ISO codes with the function New entries.

and then make new assigmnent of unit of measurement to ISO code (in order to make it unique)

and proceed further.

It's a warning, you can maintain new ISO code or you can go ahead...
