Send an email on WF Error

Hello Experts,

I am new to workflow and developed a new custom workflow with new business object. In the business process if there are any exceptions then I want to send an email. I am raising the exception with the macro EXIT_RETURN in the method. The work flow is showing the status as Error and system sends a failure message to the WF Administrator. Currently no one is monitoring this WF Administrator. So I want to send an email to business user in case of failure. What would be the best way to send an email or work item.

with best regards

Mohan Reddy

    Hi Mohan!

I am sure you will find a number of ways to send an email to the business. One of the simplest way to send an email to any user is using the 'Send Email' step. You will need the email address of the User to be entered in the 'Send Email' Step. Also, you will need to create a Task (using PFTC) where you will enter the subject as well as the conten of the email.

Also, I understand from your question that you have created an exception in one of the methods of the business object. Once you have called that method in an 'activity step' in the workflow, you can activate a branch from that step (under 'Outcomes' Tab in the workflow definition) and include the 'Send Email' step in that branch. In this way, whenever the methods throws an exception, the workflow will not error out but rather proceed towards the 'exception branch' and send the email to the necessary agent.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you require any other information.

Catch the Exception in a variable and Write a Program for sending the Mail and Pass the Variable in the mail, send it to respective person and Complete the workflow.
