Why is Production Order Scheduling Fixed at Start Today

Hi all,

For some materials we are having the issue below in which regardless of when the demand for the material is scheduled from its parent material, the production order can only be created with a start date of today even with backwards scheduling. This is the same regardless of how the production order is created.

In the scenario below, a planned order required for completion December 2019 is converted and without any changes to the scheduling is forced to a start date of today.

Can anyone advise what controls this?

Many thanks,

    Hi Daniel

Probably, your lead time is too long. When you create a new order with backward scheduling, system explodes the routing and tries to calculate the start date. If the start date is today, then system sets the start date as today and tries to run forward scheduling.

I suggest you to check the scheduling log to see if there is any message explaining what happened.
