Stock Placement Strategy 'I' Addition to existing stock via User Exit

Hello SAP Gurus...

Why is it not possible to create your own Stock placement strategy via user exit for the putaway strategy 'I' i.e. 'Addition to existing stock'.

When I try to check the user exit activation check box (SPRO->LE->WM->Strategies->Putaway Strategies->Define...) the error i get is:

"Function exit for putaway only together with strategies ' ', B ,L ,P".

Yes, that's the way it works in SAP. We had the same issue. What we did in our case was that, we just left the strategy blank and implemented the user exit to select the bin as per our own strategy. What happens in this user exit is that system picks up all the qualified bins to be putaway. We just have to select the one we need as per our own strategy.

as per my understanding, when we do an addition to existing stock, we are actually not deploying any strategy per se, nor do we take into consideration the Bin parameters, we just keep adding stock, this may not need any changes. Just my take ....

But with other options we may want to take other parameters into consideration as well and hence the system may permit you to insert your code.
