Hi,

Record type in CO-PA shows the origin of the record; whether it has been accepted via FI document, Sales Order, Billing, etc. Additionally, you may create your own record types if you want, for example, to transfer some data from external system to CO-PA.

Dear Rajen,

Record type is one of the fixed characteristics delivered by SAP. Characteristics are the criteria in Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) according to which you can analyze your operating results and perform differentiated sales and profit planning. The combination of the values for the characteristics in an operating concern is called a Profitability Segment.

The characteristics you define are stored in a field catalog. Using the function Maintain operating concern, you can select characteristics from this field catalog to define your operating concerns.

You use record types to transfer data to or enter data in Profitability Analysis. You can assign a record type to each data source.

The following record types are pre-defined and cannot be changed:

A: Incoming sales orders

B: Direct postings from Financial Accounting

C: Settled orders and projects

😧 Transfer of cost center costs

F: Transfer of billing documents from the SD interface

G: Transfer of sales quotes

H: Transfer of key figures

I: Transfer of sales orders from projects

You can define record types 0 - 9 (reserved for user defined) for your own data sources

Naveen
