Any FM?BAPI to add object links to a document?

Hi All,

My requirement is to copy the object links from one Quality Notification and add them to a new one which is a copy of the existing one .The new notification might or might not have some object links of its own the copied notification should have the links from the one from which it is copied. That means to say I want to add the existing object links with this new notification as well .How can this be achieved ? Will any/some of the FM mentioned be useful in achieving this functionality.

1. CV140_SELECT_DRAD_DOCUMENTS

2. CV140_LINKS_CREATE_WORKAREA

3. CV140_LINKS_ADD

I want to know how these above mentioned FMs work as I am not able to find any documentation for these.

If the query is not clear please let me know.I will elaborate.

Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,

Please use BAPI BAPI_DOCUMENT_SAVEOBJECTLINKS to save the object links.

      Hi Babul,

Can this Bapi be used to add object links(drad-doknr) to an existing object(drad-objky) say a Notification to another existing object without overwriting the existing links?

    Hi Abhisek,

A DMS document has 2 components, the document info record and the original file or attachments(s) connected to it.

If memory servers me correctly, the Create BAPI's take care of the info record. I think BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN or BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN2 look after the attachments.

DMS allows you to connect you DMS info record to an SAP object. This is one of its real strengths. The functionality is referred to as "object Linking".

SAP delivers a number of links to various objects in the system and provides instruction on building your own if what you need is not there. The interactions can be found in the online help. The instructions basically tell you to add a screen and underlying logic to function group CV130

As for navigating from the application back to the DMS document. Check the parked document screens. If there is a menu item link to "Documents" a la customer master > extras > documents, you are ok. Otherwise you may need to add a link to DMS via a modification.

We completed the above process for our customer invoices.

The result brought tears of joy to our AR department.

    Regards,

    Flavya

Closing the thread......I used the FM CV140_LINKS_ADD followed by CV140_LINKS_SAVE to achieve the above functionality. The issue is resolved now.
