Federation with BI Portal through RAI - Remote Application Integration

Hi

we are trying to work on the federation between EP consumer portal and BI producer Portal through RAI.

We heard from SAP that this is new and available for BI only.

RR way ( Remote Role) content sharing is working fine, but for RAI, its throwing an error.

we have created the Reports in the BI side and just created simple BI Iviews in the consumer portal and gave the report ids (query) and have set up the system also.

The same iview created in the BI portal work fine with the report integration

but not the federated one.

"

Unexpected error - Unable to get IView: fpn:/pcd:portal_content/xxxx/com.xxx.FPN_Reports/Reports_user/Reports/com.xxxx.Report1:XFTuHmIatfvXAQ%2FfcU6j0w%3D%3D:1:"

where are we missing ?

This is not an issue of SSO set up. have verified that part seperately.

thanks for the help

Hi, I am having the same problem with trying to use RDL. My error is "Unexpected error - Unable to get IView...". Have you had any luck with resolving this? Thanks Julie

Hi

Not Yet, it seems some issue with the steps provided by sap on the documentation. we are planning to raise a OSS on this.

May be SAP missed out this during their routine testing, before the release. All the documentation just point that this RAI method is available only for BI integration, but even for that, its an issue.

I need somebody from the SAP to answer this query asap.

So if someone does this RAI FPN successfully, then it must be the first one...

if you are theone,, then immediately, create a blog on the step by step and post it.

I am doing some more research on it.. keeping the fingers crossed.

thanks

Hi, Just to follow-up on this old thread. In our case, the problem was doing a federation with a BI 7.0 portal through RDL or RRA. We opened up a message with SAP and learned that we had a problem with our content structure. We were using a structure whereby a workset map iView was located under a page, which makes the behavior a bit different and did not work in our Federated Portal environment.

SAP advised that the correct behavior is to put the workset map iView under a workset, a role or a

folder and not under a page. The page is the only object in the portal that acts different from the

other objects, therefore the problem occurs.

SAP recommended that we use a different structure. Their recommendation worked, but unfortunalely did not meet our particular business requirements. --Julie

Hi,

just to interrupt for the RAI problem: for RAI it is not enough to have all BI stuff installed at the producer only. RAI uses also par files directly on the consumer although content is fetched through FPN. You need to install all relevant BI par files also on the consumer. Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Anja

hi

you can try this link

which is posted in our forum and check all the links within the question, you will get a better idea.

this link

is from sap on the FPN.

The best known content sharing mode if its within SAP is the remote role method, however going forward, SAP is taking it through RAI - remote application mode and this is currently available only for BI.

My problem is still not solved.

Hi ,

I have the same error , too . Have you solved this strange problem ?

Today I try to install the SP17 SP1 for the Java Engine.. and hope this helps.

Another question what is the best for the BI Integration in the FPN (RAI , RDL, RRL) ?

Regards
