What features are currently supported?

Hello,

I am new to SAP Business Rules and I am interested in an overview of the currently supported functionalities provided by the EHP 1 NetWeaver CE 7.1 Business Rule Engine. I am a bit confused since the Yasu website seems to be no longer maintained and not all features have already been integrated into NW that have been provided by QuickRules.

I already found out that decision flows will be supported with EHP 2.

I give you a few examples, so you know the kind of information I am interested in:

- support for decision trees

- web-based BRMS that allows versioning of rule sets

- access / authorization control for rule sets, to control who can modify them

- support for DB data retrieval within rule conditions

- support for accumulation functions within rule conditions

- debugging or rules in the IDE (breakpoints, analysis of facts currently in the rule engine's working memory)

I guess this kind of information is somewhere around here, but I could not find it after 3 hours of browsing through the tutorials and info material.

Would be great if you point me to the right location.

Many thanks,

John

Hello John,

I am providing the link to the BRM RoadMap here - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/702315d9-7901-2b10-eaa1-d9e4f547...

I hope this will help in answering your queries and give you information about what has been proposed down the line for the next two years.

Here are few other links which you may find useful -

Hello Arti,

thanks for your reply and the links to the documentation!

Unfortunately, my questions are not answered - the roadmap gives a vision but no clear implementation path when specific features will be provided.

The tutorials are good, but I hoped that you could provide me with (or point me to) a concise overview of the features currently supported and the features supported by the next EHP.

Is a complete overview of the business rule engine available, I mean a single document that can be searched for specific topics? Something similar to the [Drools documentation|http://downloads.jboss.com/drools/docs/4.0.7.19894.GA/html_single/index.html]?

Regards, John

Hello John,

The documents you require are not yet available, it will be provided along with EhP1.

Here, I will try to answer the list of questions you had asked previously -

- support for decision trees

- web-based BRMS that allows versioning of rule sets

- access / authorization control for rule sets, to control who can modify them

The above three features, i.e sequential decision making capabilities, web based BRMS and change management, according to the roadmap will be available with EhP2.

- debugging or rules in the IDE (breakpoints, analysis of facts currently in the rule engine's working memory)

There will be rules testing provided with SAP Netweaver BRM EhP2 which will help you in validating the rules written, verifying the sequence of execution of rules.

- support for accumulation functions within rule conditions

I am sorry but i didn't understand this query of yours. Can you give me an example for this case?

Regards,

Arti
