Hi,
Could some one provide me some information on Global Data Types in PI 7.1 and where it is created how its used.
Cheers,
S
Hi S,
Global data types let you to use one specified type definition to your field values.
Eg: you have several interfaces and in all of them, you have name as a field.
so instead of giving different lengths and types each time, declare a gdt and make this as a type def to your name.
Coming to usage, instead of specifying the standard types, select your gdt from Call search help for data type or press on Ctrl + Shift + Q
refer to follwoing link ...
Regards,
Venkat.

GDTs are standard way of defining XML strucuture in the ESR going forward with XI 7.1. Find below the link for the a catelogue
As a best practice instead of creating our own XML data types from scratch, GDTs must be used as standard XML XSDs on top of which our data types should be built.
