Forecasting View in Mat master

Hi,

We are using the SOP for forecasting purpose . The forecasdting view is not updated in material master.

Now there is a requirement to have the Forecasting view in material mster.

What will be the impact if it is updated and also under what scenario it is used?

As per me it is used for consumption based planning.
