Hi All,

We have to implement the ESS/MSS implementation for ECC 6.0 . But NWDI and NWDS are not installed still . I have some doubts on this ?

My understanding is We have to install the NWDI and NWDS on the same server on which EP is running. Am I right? Clarify me.

Now latest versions of NWDS are released . Which version you suggest for the ESS/MSS implementation for ECC 6.0 .

Help me ASAP.

Sharath,

I would NOT recommend to install NWDI on portal server. it's a very resource-using system, better to install it on a standalone system. the nwds are iunstalled on local clients of the developers. You can use the latest NWDI version, but be sure, you develop with the sources according to your ESS/MSS-version.

Have you already evaluated that you need NWDI at all? In the ESS/MSS-scenarios, there can be a lot of customized (withot the need of development/modification with NWDI)

Hi Achim,

You recommended not to create NWDI track on the same server on which portal is running. Is it because of the performance issue? Will the system become very slow? or Any other problems are there?

Plzz explain me clearly.

Thank you

Sharath,

yes, it's a performance issue. the NWDI is a complete Java-Stack that uses a lot of resources. It depends how much code will be developed by how many users (check-in / check-out activities) & how often a build would be done by the system.

I would definitively install it on a dedicated server.

Hi Achim,

It will be only 2 to 3 users using NWDI activities here. I think it will not be a big problem installing on the same server. What do u say?

Sharath,

if you think, your server can handle another full SAP installation: go for it. What I want to say is, that there is a lot of resource consumption by a NWDI. On the other hand, you'll probably install it on your development portal server, where performance isn't so important.

Hi,

Install NWDI on EP server. NWDS can be installed in local machine where development takes place. You will connect to NWDI configuration using username and password from NWDS. All the later versions will work fine. Install the last released version till people start working with latest version and find it stable.
