SAP Design Studio - BO Servers

Dear experts,

I was wondering what servers are used by Design Studio in BI Platform.

For some reason i can open and see the data in the dashboards without having ConnectionServer, DSL Bridge, Adaptive Connectivity Service up and running.

Basically it seems like with a dedicated Analysis Application Service it's enough to run dashboards? How does the data get retrieved if no connectivity service is running? I am using a Universe to get the data and JDBC connection...

If this is the case, is it enough to size the Analysis Application Service?

Also, is there any benchmark available for the loading time of dashboards? I know there is an extra step while using Universe as a data source (transforming the data into cubes) so I was wondering what should be a very good loading time for a medium complexity dashboard.

In BI4.x there is a system configuration wizard in the CMC; please use that and it will help you free up resources

Hi - I am not sure I follow your questions; especially the transforming into Cubes?

Thank you for your reply.

As far as I understood, if a universe is used as a data source an extra transformation is needed since the data retrieved is relational (transformation into multidimensional). That's why is recommended to use BW or Hana as a data source instead of universe.

Now back to my question, let's say I have a BI Platform which I want to use for Design Studio only. In this case I don't want to waste server resources on unnecessary BI Servers (e.g. Crystal Reports, Dashboards, WebI etc.) so I was trying to figure out what are the servers used by Design Studio on BI Platform.I had disable server after server until I got only AJS, Auditing, Analysis Application Service, CMS, IFRS&OFRS + Event Server up and running and I can still open the dashboards in the BI Platform and see the data.

Now I was trying to figure out how the data is retrieved by Design Studio since no connectivity server is up and running....+ is there any other server which is not mandatory but will result in better performance of the dashboards?
