Object Class in PS

Dears,

What is object class in SAP PS?

Only we can define it. Customization, there is no detail view for that. Is there any Integration with other module? How it impacts in transaction level.

The object class categorizes Controlling objects according to their business function and enables you to analyze cost flows within Controlling from different business perspectives.

The following object classes are available:

Overhead

Production

Investment

Profitability analysis and sales

While certain object types automatically belong to a particular class (for example, cost centers belong to the "Overhead" class), others need to be explicitly assigned to an object class in their master record (this is the case with internal orders and work breakdown structure elements, for example).

In addition to the functional area, the object class is required to determine or explain certain values in the external accounting components.

Example

The balance of all objects in the Production class is categorized as Work in Process (WIP).

Marketing (CRM-MKT)

Groups together a marketing project and all of its tasks or elements. For example, object class CP (consumer promotion) could contain the task CPT (consumer promotion task)

Hi,

Object class specifies the cost flow in Controlling from a business point of view.

The following object classes are available:

1.Overhead

2.Production

3.Investment

4.Profitability analysis and sales

While certain object types automatically belong to a particular class, (for example, cost centers belong to the "Overhead" class), others need to be explicitly assigned to an object class in their master record

(this is the case with internal orders and work breakdown structure elements, for example).

In addition to the functional area, the object class is required to determine or explain certain values in the external accounting components.

For example the balance of all objects in the Production class is categorized as Work in Process (WIP).

Go to OPSA i.e Customizing for Project profile, Check controlling tab...you will find Object class mentioned.

Secondly go to OPSC i.e Customizing for Network types,Check Costs area... you will find Object class mentioned.

you will fined the object clas in OPSA ( Project profile on controlling tab )

Please use in this way.

for investment project use Investment

when you are trigeering PP orders using MRP51 then use Production

for cost or expense projects use Overhead

for revenue projects if using CO-PA module then use Profit Analysis

Please refer this post as well.
