Exempt Plant in Batch in Restricted-Use Stock?

Hi SAP Guru's,

I have an issue where material that goes past the Sell By Date gets globally "X" restricted use stock in all Plants on a batch job that runs every night. The issue is, some of the plants internally are authorized to use this product past sell by date.

-Is there a way to exempt a plant from being impacted by the restricted use stock through the QM or plant level Item Setup so that materials can be issued/transacted upon?

Much appreciated for any help!

Ted

Batch in Restricted-Use Stock

Specifies that the batch is included in restricted-use stock.

Use

If, though a batch has the status "restricted", you want to use a goods movement to post a quantity to unrestricted-use stock, the quantity is posted to restricted-use stock and not to unrestricted-use stock.

If the status of a batch is set to restricted, the total unrestricted-use stock is transferred to restricted-use stock by means of a transfer posting. A material document is created.

You cannot change the status of a batch (unrestricted/restricted) in a goods movement, only with the following functions:

  • by maintaining the batch master record manually

  • using the control function provided in the QM system

Settings to be made in OMI8 to include restricted stock for a plant

and in OVZ9 you need to define a new checking group with restricted stock activated, this checking group needs then to be assigned to the materials of the plant in question.

Screenshots for both transactions can be seen in my blog https://blogs.sap.com/2013/12/27/unrestricted-use-stock-not-equal-to-available-stock/

Thanks Jurgen! In my scenario is just want to exempt my plant from future global restricted use hold. My intent is to have the ability to issue restricted stock to a cost center or PrO at the plant level. I don;t have access to OM since we are not shipping to customer but consuming the material internally.

Jurgen, thank you we are testing that now. We think we can issue to a Cost Center but not a PrO. Will know Monday for sure.
