No Printer Option

Former Member

I use a piece of software called Planit Solid, which uses Crystal Reprts to create is cut sheets with in Solid. I have been told by Planit that the option ' No Printer Option' doesn't work.

I use the option so I can see information on my screen, but I don't need to print it.

Is this true or is Planit telling me a fish story?

If you use the option No printer then the report doesn't depend on the printer settings and you can view the report. For more details please see the document below

When I used version 7-8 all I did was check that box and the report would not print.

When I view the report in Crystal Reports I don't get any warning and it does print through Planit Solid.

Any Idea's?

Hi Jeffery,

When you try to print any report and if you don't select no printer options then you will be connected to default printer installed on your side.

When you select that option then you will be asked to connect and can use default page size.

Let me know if any.

I have the 'No Printer' selected. But I still get a page printed. It prints on my default printer.

Hey Jeffrey,

When you don't select 'No Printer' option you will be pointed to default printer installed in your machine.

When you enable this option it will print the same any where you run the report and the report format wont change.

Ok I don't know if I'm being dumb or what.

Does the 'No Print' Option says don't print doc.

I don't want to print it I just want to see it.

How do I get this to work.

The "No Printer" option does NOT mean "don't print"

Marking no printer means that the default printer on the machine where the report is designed will not be a factor when the report is printed (from Crystal Reports or Enterprise).

Well that's dumb...

No Printer (optimize for screen display)

So what is really the point...

You check it to print to default print and if you don't check it it prints to default printers.

This did do what it says in 7 and 8. Optimize for screen display.

So does anyone have any way of doing what I'm asking?

I want to see the report on my screen but I don't want to print it.

Sorry the statement is really misleading.. And did do what it said before.

Thanks for everyone being patient with me.

The No Printer option has never turned off the ability to print. I've worked with CR since v6 and v7. It has always been for formatting purposes.

Comparatively speaking I can't think of any point in time - using Crystal Reports that one could turn off the ability to print. Just as with Microsoft products - if there's a File | Print option or a print button the capability to print will be there.

So planit is printing always! Don't they have a view button? This is a Planit issue not CR.
