BOE XI R3 Solaris corrupt install question

Hey Experts,

hoping you can help me out with this problem im having, im trying to install BO for the first time and im not that great at unix. Anyway during my first attempt at the install I ran out of space on the box and this caused a fatal error stopping the install.

When i try to reinstall into the same folder it says that BO is already installed and will not let me progress.

When i try to unistall via the AddorRemoveProducts.sh this fails as my Installerdatabase.xml is incomplete/corrupted, i've tried replacing it with the blank file tag file from the download cd, and also tried to "fix" the file but both have failed to provide results.

I would just like some advice on what steps I should follow next so I can get this software installed, is it ok to wipe the folder clean and reinstall, or is there a better process, like for example in windows when you use add/remove programs and then regedit.

Thanks,

James

    James,

Luckily on Solaris (or *nix), BOE does not store any registry like Windows that can create problems (not entirely true, because there ARE "registry" entries, but they are in the form of files on the disk itself, within the install directory). For a botched install, you should be able to wipe off the entire directory where you installed it and then start again from scratch.

Just make sure any installed services are not running (I doubt) and no other files are being used.

Solaris makes it easier for you to uninstall and reinstall it as much as you want, as long as you know what you are doing! 😊

    Merry Christmas Experts!

We have still not resolved this GIOP issue, we have servive requests with both SAP and WebSphere open!

If in the meantime anyone can shed any light on this issue then i'd be forever in your debt 😊
