SAP DMS by using shared local network drive path

Hello Gurus,

I have requirement of DMS usage for SAP PM area. Due to bandwidth and network issues we are not able to use content server path in configuration. I am also new to this subject.

We thought to use local server network drive path instead of content server path.

Example : We have two plants(India and USA) who wanted to use DMS. Each location users have one local shared network drive.

Can we go with this solution ?

If yes, could you please share any documentation related to configuration, usage and testing.

My email ID is pandeybhasker87@gmail.com.

Appreciate for soon response and documents.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bhasker Pandey

Dear Bhasker,

based on your description you can use maybe the file based storage for content server. This means you need to setup a content repository which points to your shared network drive. Then you can create storage categories for this repository.

For KPRO setup please see the online documentation at https://help.sap.com/viewer/108edb8b6c531014b0ea9b2bb674adff/7.0.34/en-US/4cff90895b605dc6e10000000a...

Then the files can be checked in.

Another approach would be to use KPRO for the document type and then use the storage category DMS_C1_ST which stores the data in table DMS_CONT1_CD1 as it is linked to content repository DMS_C1.

Best regards,

Christoph
