Error getting hierarchies for dimension

Former Member

Hello:

We have an issue when trying to create an Universe based on a Bex query. Specifically when we have 0MATERIAL object which has hierarchy attached to it.

If we remove the 0MATERIAL object it all works fine.

On BW side we did fix all the SID issues.

Here are the detailed steps

1.Create a Query in Bex

2.Query has 0MATERIAL info object that has hierarchy attached to it.

3.Create a Universe in BOJ,

u2013 Input connection parameters

u2013Select the Bex query as the data source.

4.Hit OK.

Error in BOJ:

u201CError getting hierarchies for dimension 0MATERIAL (Cube 0SD_C03/TEST_123): See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more detailsu201D

SAP gateway RFC trace file is 15 mb but the main information of the error is

"CL_RSR_HIERARCHY_BUFFER and form INCLREAD_DB"

Can anyone please share their experience in this situation

-Thank you

Hi,

there are two options here to find the real issue and narrow the scope:

the following is a list of notes that I was able to find based on the error message:

1275491, 1269703. 1225773, 1142329, 1153041, 1023899

Depending on your patchlevel on the SAP BI side some of those might apply to your issue

the second option would be to perhaps leverage transaction MDXTEST and try to create a MDX statement similar to the report and run the MDX Statement without any BusinessObjects software involved to get perhaps a more detailed error message.

this looks like an issue on the SAP BI side already perhaps you can also try to run the query in transaction RSRT or leverage BEx Analyzer.

Hello,

i`m having a similar problem. When creating a universe.

Described connection to a BW query, tested the connection, server is responding. When trying to create a universe with this connection the Universe Designer freezes, the trace log:

Is there a sap note for this ?

Hi,

first of all - this is a forum so people should not try to direct the entries to a person (like me) directly.

if people think they have EXACTLY the same problem then you can add to a thread but if you are unsure then you should open your own entry and describe the exact workflow that you are doing and provide the details of the problem.

last - posting a logfile here doesn't help - you should post a link to download the logfile.

I would suggest that the people that just added to this entry here saying "we have seen the same problem" open their own entry with the details above described.

I have the same error with the same work flow. Is there a SAP note # that shows how the issue is resolved? I can't look up your case number. Below is the content of the trace log:

BK,

I am also experiencing the same error message as youwhen trying to connect to any InfoCube or Query containing hierarchies. Like you, I have no issues creating Universes on InfoCubes or Queries that do not contain hierarchies. I can run the query successfully using Bex or transaction rsrt. Did you manage to resolve this problem? If so, please can you advise of the solution?

Many thanks

Hi Ingo,

Thanks for responding to my post. I did indeed check all of the notes you suggested but none offered any insight into solving this problem. Did you liase with BK to resolve this? If so, do you know how this was rectified? Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi,

some of the notes do require MANUAL actions.

What is the behavior you seeing ?

Ingo

Former Member

Hi Ingo,

Note 1275491 - Termination MEGA_SORT_H-04- occurs for remote hierarchy

Symptom

A query terminates with error message BRAIN 299 "System error in program SAPLRRK0 and form MEGA_SORT_H-04-".

The query has a display hierarchy with remaining nodes in the drilldown.

--> We don't see this error message

Note 1269703 - Problems with time-dependent remote hierarchies

Symptom

There are problems with time-dependent remote hierarchies.

--> the hierarchy in the query is not time-dependent.

Note 1225773 - Hierarchy: Temporary hierarchy join with recursion

Symptom

A hierarchy of the type "Temporal hierarchy join" can have a node B under the node A at a given time, and at another time the opposite relationship: node A under node B.

Due to this constellation, a recursion occurs in the technical display of the hierarchy. As a result of this recursion, node A is not displayed as the lower-level node of node B if there is a restriction to node B in the BI query.

--> the hierarchy does not include a join, it is a simple hierarchy on cost centre.

Note 1142329 - Optimization: Remote hierarchies in a query

Symptom

Performance problems occur for remote hierarchies.

--> relevant to SAP BI 7.1, we are using SAP BI 7.0

Note 1153041

--> in german, recommends support package 18 for SAP BI, we are at this support package level.

Note 1023899 - Termination: CL_RSR_HIERARCHY_VIRT 'CONSTRUCTOR-01-'

Symptom

A query terminates with error message BRAIN 299 "System error in program CL_RSR_HIERARCHY_VIRT and form CONSTRUCTOR-01-".

--> recommend support package 14 for SAP BI 7.0, we are at support package 18 for SAP BI 7.0 so fix already in place.

We have created a very simple query with a single hierarchy as we wanted to see if it would work but we still get the same issue. Can you offer any further advice please Ingo?

Many thanks

Hi Anessa,

you responding to an existing entry so my assumption is that you exactly the same behavior. if not - what is the behavior you are having, which products and versions are you using ?

Hi Ingo,

Here are the steps:-

When using Business Objects Universe Designer :

I perform the workflow (file --> new --> universe --> select

connection

ZPA_C01_Q0003 and press OK I get :

'Error getting hierarchies for dimension 0MAST_CCTR

(Cube

0PA_C01/ZPA_C01_Q0003): See RFC trace file or SAP

system log for more

details'.

There are no RFC errors, System Dumps or errors in the

SAP System Log.

Sofa.log is showing the following error :

" System error in program

CL_RSR_HIERARCHY_BUFFER and form

INCLREAD_DB-2- "

Details :

SAP_ABA 700 0016

SAP_BASIS 700 0016

PI_BASIS 2005_1_700 0016

ST-PI 2005_1_700 0000

SAP_BW 700 0018

FINBASIS 600 0013

BI_CONT 702 0007

SEM-BW 600 0013

I get this same issue whether I connect to a cube or query containg a hierarchy. I do not have any issues with cubes/queries that do not contain hiearchies.

Component version for BW is SAP NetWeaver 2004s

Business Objects XI 3.0

Many thanks

Hi Anessa,

did you look at possible notes for the error message ?

this looks like an issue in the BAPI functions.
