BPC Processing Questions

Hey guys!

I have a number of quesitons that I can't seem to find the answers to. Can anyone shed some light on these?

Within the BPC Admin Console we have the ability to Process an entire Application, or we can process individual Dimensions. Assuming I choose Full Process for either option, what is the difference between processing the entire application or simply selecting all of the dimensions within an application individually.

1. If I select by application is that simply a different route to process each Dimension individually or is there additional processing that cannot be done by choosing the Dimensions individually.

2. According to the Admin Guide, it tells me that performing a Full Process Optimization will u201Cprocess the dimensionsu201D in addition to clearing up the Data Storage. Does this mean that the Optimization will also process the Application?

There are a number of Custom DTS (SSIS) Packages that were provided with our installation that may or may not be doing the same thing. Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between the following and if so what they are:

1. Make Dimension Task vs Admin Task using the Create Dimension type. (If theyu2019re the same, why does the Admin task have an option to u201CScheduled Members Processu201D and the other does not? And what does this option do anyway?)

2. DumpLoad Task with the u201CProcess Cubeu201D and u201CFull Processu201D Options selected vs. Admin Task using the Process Application type selected. Can anyone explain what the difference is between these two options?

3. Both the Make Dimension Task and the Admin Task using the Create Dimension type, offer the option of "Perform a full process of the application after creating the dimension". What is the difference of selecting that option and running the Admin Task with the "Process Application" type selected?

Any clarification is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
