Standard Address Vs Default Address

Hello Experts,

A very basic question.

For any Business Partner address, I noticed in a Function Module that there are 2 fields, Standard Address and Default Address.

What is the difference between them?

To my understanding there can be only 1 standard address out of all addresses. But then what is Default address?

Hello,

The "standard" address is indeed the standard address for that business partner, meaning if an application demands "an address" (without specifying the "usage") the standard address will be returned.

When you have multiple addresses of the same "usage" (eg like 2 ship-to addresses) you can flag one as the "default" for that "usage".

So, the standard address is really the standard address, the default is only used when you have more than one address for one usage.
