How to create perfect parallel processing profiles based on the system configuration

Dear All,

This is a general question -

How to select a number of Parallel Processes / Server Group / Block Size based on the system configuration.

Generally once we have created a different profiles we will do performance test of a job but while creating parallel profile how to assume/select the Parallel Processes / Server Group / Block Size.

Appreciate your feedback.

    Hello Srikanth,

There are many parameter need to be considered while creating parallel processing profile.

    1. If you use these profiles in the process chains, you should try to check the availability of work processes during that time. You can use T code RSBATCH to find out the situation like how many processes consumed, how many free to use etc.

    2. Check how many work processes configured in your system by using SM50.

    3. Server Group - You may ask your basis consultant or you can keep blank, block size can be determined based on how many records processed at a time and how many work processes available. (For example - 42000 records I want to processed and I analyzed I can use max 7 processes so I will define block size as 42000/7= 7000

    4. You have to use different parallel processes depend on availability of work processes, number of counts, other jobs running in parallel etc.

    5. Perform trial and error method to select best parallel process for particular job.

    6. Please don't try to consume all processes at any given time. There must be few free work processes available as a good practice.
