You can use this business process to implement the assortments operationally, based on the placement criteria. A prerequisite is that the assortment must only contain articles that are on the shelf (and thus in the layout module). The foundation for this process is the layout module or layout module version, which both forms the interface to external space management programs and represents the basis for assortment planning for this process in mySAP ERP.
You can use this process as a follow-on process from Assortment Planning for Basics, to implement strategic assortment planning in SAP BI and SAP MAP operationally in SAP ECC, or as an independent process to create and implement assortments on a placement-oriented basis.
· Operational assortment management within strategic assortment planning:
Starting from the Assortment Planning for Basics process, releasing the assortments in SAP BI creates the equivalent objects (assortments, assortment assignments to stores, layout modules, and layout module versions) in SAP ECC. Subsequently, the articles are assigned to the layout module versions analogously to the article assignment (article in assortment version) in SAP MAP. You can use the Layout Workbench for this purpose. You can optionally carry out store capacity planning and/or article capacity planning. If you do, you will have to assign fixtures to the layout module versions and place the articles in the fixtures. Please note that no standard content is provided for store capacity planning.
After article placement and optimization through an external space management program, the process is completed with the release of the layout module version, which lists the articles in the relevant stores. In addition, you can use delta layout modules to implement regional or store-specific assortment variances. After listing, you can optionally communicate the layout module versions and their articles to Operational Assortment Planning and Control (OAPC) to calculate the purchase order quantities.
· Independent operational assortment management:
You can also use this process independently of the strategic assortment planning process. The Layout Workbench functions make it possible to create layout modules and layout module versions in SAP ECC. You still have to assign layout modules to assortments, and assortments to stores. The process of article assignment, communication with the space management program, and so on, then corresponds to the process described above.
