Pi 7.1 - can't display default trace

Former Member

Hi,

When I enter NWA and navigate to display a default trace, I get:

Log file information cannot be retrieved from the server. This may be because the log archive directory (.../cluster/server[X]/log/archive) contains too many zip files. You may either manually delete them or move the archives to a temporary directory.

No log files to display

No log files to display

At first i had a lot of zip files in the directory, but then I moved them to another direcotory and I still get this error. Any ideas ?

Please advice,

Dimtiry Haritonov

Would you believe me if I say that my NWA says no trees can be displayed or something like that when I try to launch it?

We found a SAP note fix for it and will be sometime before the fix goes in. Exploring log issues would come after that, I was just hoping your expertise would help me when I came to the point you are at.

For now, I am way of base

Just a quick note ~ we found the PI 7.1 trouble shooting guide on Service market place a great guide. maybe that should be something you can look into?

the troubleshoot guide is okay but didn't help me with this issue.

So solve this error one should move all the logs from this directories to other directory NOT UNDER USR\SAP:

1. \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS<SYSNUM>\j2ee\cluster\dispatcher\log\archive

2. \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS<SYSNUM>\j2ee\cluster\server0\llog\archive

After cleaning all the archive files, the problem is solved. Also, there is no automatic mechanism that deletes the zip files. Bu there is an option to turn the archive off:

Start Config Tool

j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat and expand the node cluster-data ->

template - <xxxx> -> instance-ID<xxxxx> -> managers -> Log Manager ->

property ArchiveOldLogFiles -> set value to OFF

I hope this will help someone
