Posting Period - Date deviates from permissable range [a/p Invoice]

SAP2007A / 8.00.177 SP: 00 PL 41

I am getting the error "posting date deviates from defined range "a/p invoice - due date message 173-11" I am creating an A/P invoice document date today 12/02/08 but the due date is 01/01/09 (next period/fiscal year)

Before creating this document, I created a new series of posting periods for 2009 and all new periods show a status of "unlocked". Currently December 2008 is unlocked, all previous periods show "closing period"

I have the same problem/receive similiar "due date" when creating a sales order with a delivery date beyond 2008.

Is there a limit to the number of periods that can show unlocked or "closing period" - we have been live on the system since May 2008 - this is the first "new period" i have created.

Thank you in advance for your assistance - Andrew
