I have created a universe with a connection to our Oracle database and uploaded it to the Enterprise server. When I then log in to WebI to create a report using the universe I am getting the following error message when I try to run the query:
Query 1 - Proving_Test_1
An internal error occurred while calling the 'processDPCommands' API. (Error: WIS 30270)
I have googled this and read that it is probably related to the database connection I have created, but I cannot find out what the problem is. When I created the connection in designer I used the Oracle client option on the 'Database Middleware Selection' screen and was able to connect and pull in tables ok. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Kind regards
Mark
Hi Mark,
This seems to be the generic error message. What version of BO are you on? Have you tried connecting to the sample universe and see if it happens with them? Is the report long running before the error or is it immediate.

Is this a single box installation or are there multiple servers involved. If it is multi-server you need to ensure that the oracle client software works in installed on both the central and the query servers. where are you using the designer tool, is this on the server or is from your local machine. If you are using it locally you need to ensure that the connection works on the server as well.

It's a single box installation. I am working on the universe on my local machine and then uploading it to the server so it must be a problem with connecting once it's on the server. I'm a developer and wasn't involved in the install, so I'll raise it with our sys admins and see what joy we have. Thanks.
Hi,
You must be able to create deski reports.
Check the deski reports in infoview, try to edit the deski report from infoview, or try to login to DeskI 3-tier mode, and check whether you are able to create new reports.
In the designer check whether you are using the correct middleware version.
Check the tnsnames.ora file...check whether it is the same on the Oracle Server. If it is not the same, then copy the file onto your desktop.
Also, one more thing you can try is, you can create a listener, from the Net Configuration Assistant, then create a "Local Net Service Name Configuration", and do the configuration. Make sure that the connection is testing.
